- The French Presence in Maryland, 1524-1800 (Baltimore: Gateway Press, 1978), 234 pp. This hardcover has been out of print for many years but still can be found on some historical and genealogical library shelves. A copy will also appear from time to time on Amazon or eBay. It was written with a grant from the Maryland Bicentennial Commission and consists of three principal chapters – France and the Development of the Province, The Acadian Experience, Age of Revolution and Growth – and 22 appendices.
- A Guide to the Acadians in Maryland in the Eighteenth and Nineteenth Centuries (Baltimore: Gateway Press, 1995), 395 pp. A very thorough look at the early years of exile and growth, with nineteen other chapters, the most significant being an analysis of the 1763 ‘Census’ of Acadians prepared for the French ambassador in London. Popular and still available from Amazon Books for $19.95.
- Becoming the Frenchified State of Maryland: Reflections on the Lives and Contributions of Acadians, Saint-Domingue Refugees, and European Émigrés, 2 vols. (Baltimore: Otter Bay Books, 2022), 1553 pp. Available on Amazon Books for $55 or from Maryland Francophone Studies, 17560 Gatsby Terrace, Olney, MD 20832-2300 for $68 (6% MD tax and media rate mail included).
